The Exchange: 2 Boys 1 Can (Induction Task)

Induction Evaluation:
I feel that overall, the whole film that we created worked fairly well and we were able to portray the narrative in the particular way that we wanted. One of the biggest achievements for our group was being able to shoot all the footage in an appropriate amount of time and then selecting the necessary clips that would link best to the narrative and the comedic theme of our project. In my opinion, our narrative was quite effective and straight forward, making it easy for the audience to understand; sneaking a drink into skills, a forbidden action. Throughout the entire time we were shooting the footage, we were thinking about possible continuity mistakes that could be made. We focused on making sure the same people were in the shots when characters were walking past, particularly Brandon in the corridor. We also re shot a couple of the clips due to camera bags being slightly visible in the background, making it look much more appropriate in the newer footage. However, one error we had was the clothes I was wearing on the first day were slightly different to the second day. Although we were able to work around this problem by not shooting any of my body, it meant we had to not film some clips that would have made the narrative flow much easier if they were present. Another continuity error was the people in skills, this was a problem as there were so many sitting down, that at some points they could have been different to the previous, due to the fact we were shooting on two different days. The final error which we picked up on was very specific. As we shot the footage of Brandon with ‘sweat’ dripping down his face, in the next shot we didn’t put any water on his face again, taking away from the effect and making it look less professional. I believe we used a variety of camera angles that stuck to the criteria, such as panning shots, close ups, mid shots and long shots to help add to the narrative and intrigue the audience. In the post production stage, as we edited the short film, I feel we included appropriate sound effects to link with the genre, along with making sure we made it look as professional as we could with the skills that we had been taught so far. Overall, I feel we were successful to an extent in the filming and editing of our film, with only a few continuity errors and working well as a team in order to make sure the film was produced to a good standard for an induction task.
